In the Year 1990 Tapan Basu, a music connoisseur realized his dream and founded Ragranjani. Since then, it has been a successful musical journey! Ragranjani aspires for a cultural development in the society through music. Today, Ragranjani has designated wings for music label, music academy, audio and video productions, event managements, NGO activity, advertisements, photography and a MusiClub for all music enthusiasts!

Ragranjani believes in bringing out the best from aspiring youngsters. Grooming under able guidance and imparting training under true musical methodologies are the primary moto of Ragranjani in their Music
Academy wing. With the goal to preserve good music and carry forward the legacy of legendary musicians, Ragranjani inculcates the true spirit of music in aspiring musicians. Besides this, Ragranjani plays a major role to create & execute major events under the frontline banners of national & international clients, corporates, institutions, both in Television and Ground. It confers upon the responsibility to its own shoulders to ensure all products and presentations including music training can reach the epitome of success and recognition.
Our Gurus
We believe in the ancient Guru-Shishya tradition that has always been adored in Indian Culture. So, every member of Ragranjani is inspired by their Guru, our founder, Tapan Basu. And Ragranjani is Basu's homage to his gurus.

Tapan Basu has a strong musical background. He was passionate about music from a very tender age, and with blessings from his parents and knowledge from his gurus, he soon became a devotee to the cause of music. An ardent devotee of Tagore and a disciple of Dwijen Mukhopadhyay since 1976, Tapan Basu has also received training in Classical Music from Pandit Nihar Ranjan Bandyopadhyay (Bishnupur Gharana) and Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. Since 1995, he has been in close association with legendary composer Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay.
To Basu, Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay was not only a philosopher and composer but a father figure. Such was the fondness that Basu had been privileged enough to closely witness the legend create many of his compositions. No wonder, that Ragranjani has released over 250 songs written and composed by Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay. Besides, Ragranjani Music Academy is blessed to have the legend as their mentor during his final days.
Tapan Basu has always been mentioned by his Gurus with fondness. Dwijen Mukhopadhyay believed Basu will be a torchbearer in preserving the beauty and essence of traditional Bengali Music and above all Indian Music, for generations to come. Basu launched his first creative ideation at the tender age of fourteen at Rabindrasadan, Kolkata under the able guidance of Dwijen Mukhopadhyay.

We reap the corns of soulful music; but the person who sowed the seeds of Ragranjani, never aspires to come to limelight. He is Tapan Basu. Over the last four decades, his creative work has travelled across the globe, been applauded by television media and veterans across the country. As a creative director, he has worked in over 100 television shows, been awarded Telesamman and several other prestigious awards and nominations. Today, his Ragranjani is one of the leading music labels of the country.
In 2011, he was invited to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in a weeklong conference held in New Jersey, USA. Prof. Mohan Singh(Shantiniketan) was the singer for the event and the entire concert was based on Basu's research, script and direction. Apart from this, he has directed several concerts in USA, Canada, Thailand and Bangladesh.
Tapan established himself in the world of creativity by giving hit programmes one after the other. His programmes have always had a blend of innovation and information, seriousness and enjoyment – an entertaining confluence. Today, Tapan Basu’s name is synonymous with brilliant concept direction, and flawless execution. His musical journey over the last 40 years is a testimony to that.
He is blessed with an inherent capability to cultivate and bring out the best within young talents, and Ragranjani academy has been running successfully, achieving the same. He is also a research enthusiast, and has supervised several live concerts and albums.
He is working relentlessly and incessantly for the propagation of good music and he dreams for a musically enriched world.
